Proof of Residence

Suggested Documents for Proof of Legal Residence

The principal may require sufficient documentation to prove legal residence.

The following may be accepted:

  • Home Ownership Title
  • Building Contract - The contract must state a completion date in the current semester
  • Deed to Property
  • Lease/Rental Agreement
  • Copy of Current Utility Bill (i.e. power, gas, telephone, water)
  • Property Tax Notice

The following documents are for temporary emergency situations or where no other legal residence exists. If a student’s parent(s) or guardian(s) are living with a friend or relative in the school zone, they may not have another legal residence, in this case the following may be accepted:

Mail indicating new Mailing Address – NOTE: The Post Office will no longer provide documentation of change of mailing address.

  • Voter Registration Notification (this may take 30 days to obtain).
  • Income Tax Return
  • Car Tag Receipt
  • Driver’s License
  • Divorce or legal separation degree that states former legal residence is no longer in their name
  • Medical insurance or card with an address
  • Disconnect notice for power or other utility from previous address
