  • IMMUNIZATION CLINICS:
The Tuscaloosa County Health Department has scheduled their 'back to school' immunization clinic days for August 5, 2016 and August 8, 2016 through August 10, 2016.  These days will be by appointment only. Immunizations can be obtained by scheduling an appointment on Thursdays throughout the summer. There will not be enough appointments to accommodate every student needing vaccinations if they wait until the 'back to school' clinics.  The phone number to call for appointments is (205) 562-6900.  If you have a student who needs an up to date Certificate of Immunization Only (Blue Card), those can be obtained at the TCHD in the WIC department on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday (8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.).

  • 2016-17 Online Student Registration

    Dear Parent/Guardian,

The Tuscaloosa County School System is excited to announce an online student registration/data validation system for the upcoming school year, powered by InfoSnap. The system is a secure and green process, which allows the district to verify all student demographic, emergency and medical information for your child prior to the start of the new school year. The system will also allow you to electronically sign the annual permission forms for school district policies. In short, this online process replaces all the hard copy student registration and permission forms that your child brings home on the first day of school.

When it is time to fill out the online form, you will receive a letter/email from the Tuscaloosa County School System with instructions on how to access the system for your student. The email will contain a link/instructions and a secure “snapcode” that links directly to your student’s information. You will create an account, that you will use each year for this process, and submit a form for each student in your family. To make the process easier for families with multiple students, you will have the option to copy all generic family information to all other students in your family.

We would appreciate all families to take action and complete these forms as soon as possible after receiving the letter/email. Your student’s registration will not be complete until the forms have been submitted. If you do not have access to the Internet, contact your child’s school and you can make an appointment to use a school computer to complete the process. If you have any further questions, please contact the school office.

  • Achieving Starts with Believing
Every Child a Graduate – Every Graduate Prepared for Life

Accountability is the guiding principle that defines how we make commitments to one another, how we measure and report our progress, how we interact when things go wrong, and how much ownership we take to get things done.

For accountability to work, every effort toward improvement must be efficient and effective.  It reflects the positive and negative ramifications of attendance, curriculum, instruction, school climate, school culture, discipline, professional development, assessment, guidance, child nutrition, and health services.

Accountability provides the bridge connecting our elementary, middle, and high schools to ensure every child is a graduate and every graduate is prepared for life.

  • New Holt High School Site Approved:

Meeting in regular session on Monday, December 14, 2015, the Tuscaloosa County Board of Education accepted the recommendation of Dr. Walter Davie, Interim Superintendent, for the site selection of the new Holt High School. Described as site ‘N’ throughout the research and selection process, the approved area is a 62.74 acre of land located east of Crescent Ridge Road, situated roughly between Keene Drive as the approximate South border and extending slightly beyond Elm Drive to the North. The proximity access between Holt Elementary, Davis-Emerson Middle, and the new Holt High School will have advantages for programmatic elements for this high school cluster and also will assist with transportation.

Dr. Davie stated that, “It is exciting to be able to recommend to the Board the site for the new Holt High School. Much discussion, planning, and research has taken place and I now believe we do have the best recommendation to put forth before the Board of Education.”

Now that the site has been approved, the site acquisition process will move forward. Through Ward Scott Architects, the Board has employed Matt Tompkins with the Rosen Harwood law firm to work with land owners in the acquisition stage. There are nineteen parcels of land with five occupied dwellings within the approximate 63 acre area. Plans are for the acquisition of all properties to be completed by late spring. It is hoped that the site preparation aspect of the construction work can begin by mid-summer 2016.
