One of my lifelong goals was to become a school principal. Little did I know I would become principal of the most fabulous middle school in the Tuscaloosa County School System, Duncanville Middle School!
Attending school in the Tuscaloosa City School System, I was fortunate enough to have many excellent teacher role models. I knew from an early age that I wanted to be a teacher. After attending The University of Alabama where I earned a B.S. in Elementary Education in 1986, I began my career as a first grade teacher at Brookwood Elementary School, and taught every grade there except kindergarten and fifth grade. In 1990, I earned a Master of Arts degree from The University of Alabama, and then an Educational Specialist degree in 1985. I then transferred to Cottondale Elementary School where I taught fifth and sixth grades. After teaching there for several years, I was given the wonderful opportunity to work at The University of Alabama, Department of Elementary Education, as a Teacher in Residence. After remaining there for three years, I became Assistant Principal at Davis-Emerson Middle School, and after several years was promoted to principal at Duncanville Middle School where I have been for almost 4 years.
I have been married to my husband, Miles for 39 years and have two sons and three granddaughters.
I am passionate about all sports, but especially softball and baseball. My favorite major league baseball team is the Atlanta Braves and I love watching softball and football at The University of Alabama. Roll Tide!! One of my favorite past-times is reading all types of fiction. My favorite vacation spot is the beach!!
