Scholar Bowl

Dear Prospective Scholar Bowl Team Member,

 

Thank you for your interest in the Echols Middle School 2012-2013 Scholar Bowl team!  I am excited to start practicing and getting ready for award winning competitions. 

 

Take a moment to review the expectations of Scholar Bowl team members. If you think the rules and schedule are something you can handle, congratulations!  You are an EMS Scholar Bowl team member.  Check the calendar for practice dates and stop by room 146 to sign up with me, Ms. Thompson.
 

 

Scholar Bowl Team Member Expectations:

 

¨     Come to all practices.  You must have a note from your parent with a valid excuse if you are going to miss a practice.  If you miss more than 3 practices, you are off the team.  Practices will be 1 to 2 days per week.  We typically meet once a week unless we are preparing for a tournament.  Then we will meet twice per week. 

 

¨     Come to scheduled tournaments.  They will typically be on Saturdays and no bus will be provided.  You must arrange with your parents for a ride or arrange with your friends to carpool.  I can usually carry the entire team in my vehicle, but I cannot make any promises! 

 

¨     Make arrangements to be picked up on time.  Pick up is in the back parking lot at 3:45.  Parents, there will be no supervision after this time! 

 

¨     Check the website frequently for updates and information. 

 

¨     Support your team members!  No derogatory comments, teasing, or putdowns will be tolerated!

 

¨     Practice, practice, practice!

 

¨     Purchase a Scholar Bowl T-Shirt.  Cost and design will be given soon!  This is mandatory and should only be about $15.00.
