School News

All Sipsey Valley Middle School students, including rising 6th graders coming from the elementary feeder schools, have required summer reading. Students should read the book designated for their 2013-2014 grade level. A test will be administered to all students on the book for their grade level during the first week of school. The required books are as follows:
 
Sixth Grade - On My Honor by Marion Dane Bauer
Seventh Grade - Theodore Boone: The Abduction by John Grisham
Eighth Grade - Alabama Moon by Watt Key

Schedule pick-up for Sipsey Valley Middle School students will be Thursday, August 8th from 3:00 - 6:00 PM. Schedule pick-up for SVHS Freshmen will be Monday, August 12th from 4:00 - 6:00 PM.

Research has shown that students who have needed school supplies are much likely to be successful in school. Please click the links below to print the supply list for the grade your child will be in during the 2013-2014 school year.

Flu Update

The flu season has arrived in Tuscaloosa, and the Tuscaloosa County School System is working to protect its students and employees. The Tuscaloosa News has reported that flu cases are rising in Tuscaloosa. The TCSS Health Services Department encourages parents and family members of all students to read the letter linked below and to follow its instructions to help keep students as healthy as possible and to prevent the spreading of flu germs.
