Too Sick for School?
Flu Season Is Here
The flu season has arrived in Tuscaloosa, and the Tuscaloosa County School System is working to protect its students and employees.
The Tuscaloosa News has reported that flu cases are rising in Tuscaloosa. The TCSS Health Services department encourages parents and family members of all students to read the attached letter and to follow its instructions to help keep students as healthy as possible and to prevent the spreading of flu germs.
v Due to new safety precautions and in conjunction with the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff Department recommendations, ALL visitors to Brookwood High School MUST come to the office FIRST and sign in with the office personnel. You will be escorted by faculty or staff to your destination.
- In light of recent national events, BHS has implemented a new procedure for allowing students out of class. Previously, if a student needed to leave class, the teacher would just write a hall pass on a piece of paper. With our new system, teachers will simply sign the student out in the computer and enter their destination. If a student has not reached that destination or returned to class in a timely manner, the office staff and administrators receive a notification and can begin looking for the missing student. Your student’s safety is of utmost importance to us. If for some reason we had to implement our lockdown, fire, or severe weather procedures, we would know the location of the student if they aren’t in or with their class.
- Students are no longer allowed to drink water, soda, etc. DURING class. They can have drinks during break, between classes and at lunch.
- The policies listed below have been in place for a long time now and students are well aware of these by this time in the school year. Warnings were given during first semester for these violations, but at this time of year, these violations will result in a discipline referral.
ü All students should have MESH BACKPACKS.
ü NO hats are allowed ON CAMPUS.
ü Dress code should be followed at all times.
