    Recipes from the Valley

The time has come, and the Sipsey Valley Middle School cookbooks titled Recipes from the Valley have arrived! This has been a labor of love weeks in the making because our community's recipes are finally compiled and ready for use. We have collected over 100 recipes from students, teachers, parents, and other community residents (New Hope Baptist and First Cumberland Presbyterian to name a few). This cookbook would make a wonderful holiday gift for someone you cherish, and as of now, you may order as many as you would like!

From December 10- 14th we have books available for pre-order. If you wish to reserve your cookbooks early, please follow these steps:

    1. print the available pre-order form

    2. fill in all required information (name, number of books, total cost)

    3. bring completed pre-order form to either the SVMS main office or give to your child to personally deliver to Mrs. Lowry (8th grade English)

    4. make sure the money is attached somehow to pre-order form

From December 17th-20th Mrs. Lowry will offer a sales booth for the remaining cookbooks from 7:20am-7:40am in the morning.  Act fast because we expect our Recipes from the Valley cookbooks will fly into everyone's kitchen! Happy Holidays and happy cooking!

    Breakout Edu

Teachers participated in a Breakout Edu training session in the Sipsey Valley Library in which they learned about a new immersive games platform that allows students to collaboratively solve a series of critical thinking puzzles in order to "break into" boxes. This learning platform emerged from the escape/break out room concept that is increasingly popular across the country. Now, teachers are excited about introducing this new learning method to their students.

Online Registrion (InfoSnap) - Returning Students

  • Dear Parent/Guardian,

The Tuscaloosa County School System is excited to announce an online student registration/data validation system for the upcoming school year, powered by InfoSnap. The system is a secure and green process, which allows the district to verify all student demographic, emergency and medical information for your child prior to the start of the new school year. The system will also allow you to electronically sign the annual permission forms for school district policies. In short, this online process replaces all the hard copy student registration and permission forms that your child brings home on the first day of school.

It is now time to fill out the online form. Each returning student (even sixth graders who will attend Sipsey Valley for the first time in 2016/2017, but attended a Tuscaloosa County school last year) should have received a letter with instructions on how to access the system. The letter contains a link/instructions and a secure “snapcode” that links directly to your student’s information. You will create an account, that you will use each year for this process, and submit a form for each student in your family. To make the process easier for families with multiple students, you will have the option to copy all generic family information to all other students in your family.

We would appreciate all families to take action and complete these forms as soon as possible. Your student's registration will not be complete until the forms have been submitted. If you did not receive your letter with your "snapcode," please contact the school office for assistance. Also, if you not have access to the Internet, contact the school office and you can make an appointment to use a school computer to complete the process. If you have any further questions, please contact the school office.

Students who are new to the Tuscaloosa County School system need to read the information below in the District Announcement section and follow the link for new student registration.
