Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! I am honored and excited to be a part of the amazing Panthers' staff here at Brookwood Middle School. This will be my sixth year teaching here and my second year of having the privilege to teach the Self-Contained Exceptional Needs Class. I moved to Alabama in 2012 after spending eight years in Albuquerque, New Mexico. My husband is a retired U.S. Air Force pilot, so we have lived in several interesting places over the years. I have two sons, now ages 23 and 24, who were born while we lived in the Washington, D.C. area. In addition to Albuquerque, we have lived in Arkansas, Maryland, Florida, and Tokyo, Japan. In 2007, I began my career in education in Albuquerque, working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I earned a Master's Degree in Special Education from the University of New Mexico in December 2011. I enjoy hiking, camping, and watching football...ROLL TIDE! My husband is an alumnus of the University of Alabama, so even though I'm from Kennett, Missouri, I am an Alabama fan. I believe all of our students are treasures of our future, and I am looking forward to a great year with them! I also believe student progress is directly impacted by a strong connection between school and home, so I look forward to working jointly with parents and guardians to achieve the best possible outcomes for our students.
