My name is Carla Hamner and I am so excited to be the counselor at Northport Intermediate School!  This will be year 17.5 in education and year 12 as a school counselor.  My passion is relationships.  Please reach out to me if I can help you in any way.  I look forward to a fantastic year of meeting and serving your children.

This year we are focusing on VIP character where students show: they value others, have integrity, and are present and positive.  We want to be a family that gives everyone the VIP treatment.  I will see your children monthly in whole group counseling lessons.  We will discuss many things including:  conflict/resolution, emotional health and digital safety, planning for your future, goals and dreams, kindness, testing skills and more.  Each nine weeks, we will meet together for a "family rally" and students will participate in fun, character-building games with a little competition mixed in.  My hope is that we can unite the students of NIS as a family of Wildcats who know how to demonstrate VIP character before they leave our building and we prepare them academically and socially for their next steps.
