Holt High School, located just east of downtown Tuscaloosa, is a fully accredited secondary school and one of six high schools in the Tuscaloosa County School System. It is a comprehensive high school encompassing grades 9 through 12. Operating on a four block day; with Intervention Time (LEAD Time), all students in grades 9-12 are enrolled in LEAD Time where students work on reading, math skills, ACT prep, Work Keys, Coding, class meetings, SGA meetings, Battle of the Books practice, etc. According to the State of Alabama Department of Education policies and procedures, credit is awarded upon successful completion of each course. In addition to attending classes on the local campus, students may attend classes at Tuscaloosa Career & Technology Academy, CTE classes offered at Brookwood High School, complete coursework online through the State of Alabama's ACCESS Distance Learning program, participate in dual enrollment programs at local colleges and universities, or seek higher education opportunities for banked credit.
The opportunities provided for our students to grow socially come from a wide array of activities and clubs which are available to all who wish to participate. Service clubs, Ambassadors, and FCCLA actively promote community involvement in our students. Events at school such as Homecoming, the Junior/Senior Prom, and many others allow our faculty members and students to work together outside of the classroom.
We are excited about all of our athletic programs, which will include all of the major sports for both males and females. This will give many students an opportunity to excel outside of the classroom.
