I absolutely love teaching at Brookwood High School. I have been here 8 years. I spent 19 years teaching younger students but have found my 'happy place' at Brookwood.
I went to Hillcrest High School (class of '86) in Tuscaloosa and then to the UA where I earned BS and MA degrees in Special Education. In 2004, I decided to try something different, so I went to the University of West AL and earned a Master's Degree Certification in Library Media Education.
I have twin daughters, Savannah and Caroline, who make me laugh every day and make me proud to be their mom. They are in college.
We enjoy traveling and I collect sand from vacations (usually beaches) which includes sand from as far North as the Bay of Fundy, Nova Scotia, Canada, East to Bermuda, and South to Ocho Rios, Jamaica. One of my favorite seaside towns to visit is Kennebunkport, ME; especially in the early fall.
We traveled extensively in 2015/early 2016 and destinations included Ontario, Canada/Niagara Falls;
Destin, FL (parasailing!); New Orleans, LA (rode the Amtrak!) and Snowshoe, WV (tried snow skiing for the first time!). I checked off a Bucket List desitination Summer 2017 when I went to Nova Scotia, Canada. I walked the ocean floor at the Bay of Fundy, which has the world's highest tides, visisted Peggy's Cove and Lunenburg on the northeastern coast, walked through the Titanic grave site in Halifax, and rode over the world's longest bridge (Cofederation Bridge) to Prince Edward Island.
We traveled mostly with extended family which made the trips more enjoyable and memorable. I treasure my family. There is no substitute.
I enjoy watching my children, nieces and nephews play high school/college sports and watching Alabama football. My hobbies include traveling and working in the yard. I've recently ridden on a motorcycle and absolutely love it! Perhaps riding could become a new hobby!
