This will be my 7th year of teaching at Flatwoods Elementary.  I have taught third grade for the past 5 years, and this will be my second year to teach 5th grade. This is the school and community I grew up in, so it is great to give back to the area that gave so much to me as a child.
I love teaching because I get to influence the lives of students for the better; just like the amazing teachers, I was blessed to have. I also enjoy sponsoring and instructing the Tuscaloosa County High Majorettes, playing the piano, singing and working with children at my church.
I was recently a contestant on Nickelodeon's Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader where I travelled to Los Angeles to test my knowledge against 5th-grade curriculum. Being a part of that show was an experience I never expected to have, but was so blessed to be a part of.
I am looking forward to a new year here at Flatwoods. I know it is going to be difficult year, but we will make it through together!
