• 2016-2017 HILLCREST MIDDLE SCHOOL CHEERLEADING REQUIREMENTS

    CHEER:
     
          •a cheer with a jump and/or back handspring will be taught at clinic (sharpness, motion placement,      
             voice, spirit, crowd effectiveness, etc.)
     
     
    DANCE:
    • a dance with a jump and/or back handspring will be taught at clinic (sharpness, rhythm, facials, execution, motion placement, etc.)
     
    TUMBLING:
    • Standing back handspring (After being successfully passed off on the mat, this skill will also be performed on the gymnasium floor to show minimum preparedness for pep rallies and basketball games.)
    • Round off three back handsprings (connected)
    • Optional Pass: some form of tuck is preferred, but all skill attempts will receive points. Difficulty and execution of skill will determine points earned.

    *A spot may be used at tryouts, but a 1/2 score deduction will be taken from each spotted skill.
     

    JUMPS:
    • Toe touch
    • Optional jump
    TEACHER EVALUATIONS=20% of score
     

    **In order to be in uniform with the team at camp or at our first appearance, all girls MUST acquire and pass off REQUIRED skills from tryouts.
    These skills must be exhibited, assessed, and passed off throughout the season. Girls should be acquiring and improving new, more advanced skills throughout the cheer year, not struggling to reach previous requirements.
