Parent and Student Surveys
During the next few months, the Tuscaloosa County School System will be participating in the Continuous Improvement Process. This process is intended to help schools and school systems identify strengths, identify ways to improve, and set goals based on data and feedback from stakeholders.
As one part of this process, TCSS asks our stakeholders to provide feedback through surveys. Please find the survey or surveys below that pertain to you as a TCSS stakeholder, whether you are a student, parent/guardian, or faculty/staff member. The surveys are short and should take less than 10 minutes to complete. Click on this link https://www.tcss.net/Page/35483 for description of all surveys. Please complete the surveys that pertain to you by Friday, September 11, 2020.Students in grades 6-8 survey(complete all 3):Culture and Climate Surveys: https://eprovesurveys.advanc-ed.org/surveys/#/action/139700/p707Student Engagement Surveys: https://eprovesurveys.advanc-ed.org/surveys/#/action/139717/p707Inventory Surveys: https://eprovesurveys.advanc-ed.org/surveys/#/action/139705/p707Parent or guardian survey:Culture and Climate Survey: https://eprovesurveys.advanc-ed.org/surveys/#/action/139702/p707
We are excited to share that our school is implementing a Mathematics and Reading program called i-Ready. Below, you will find information about the program and how we will be using it in the classroom.
What is i-Ready?
i-Ready is an online program that will help us determine your child’s strengths and areas for growth, personalize their learning, and monitor their progress throughout the school year. i-Ready allows us to meet your child where they are and provides us with data to inform instruction.
The i-Ready Diagnostic is an adaptive assessment that adjusts its questions to suit your child’s needs. Each item a student receives is based on their answer to the previous question. For example, a series of correct answers will result in slightly harder questions, while a series of incorrect answers will yield slightly easier ones. The purpose of this is not to give your child a score or grade but to determine how to best support their learning.
i-Ready Instruction provides students with lessons based on their individual strengths and areas for growth. These lessons are interactive and provide strategic supports to keep your child engaged as they learn.

ALL of our students need to attend school daily and arrive on time. Each time a student is absent from school he/she misses out on valuable instruction and the absence is also held against the school. With new attendance regulations in place, DEMS and all other schools will be penalized if our students do not attend daily. Parents, it is critical that you have your child/children in school everyday!
