Free Parent Assistance Website and Helpline
The Parenting Assistance Line (PAL) offers a wealth of information for parents. Visitors to their website can find information on child development, handling the stress of parenting, safe and effective discipline strategies, and much more. PAL also has a toll-free helpline (1-866-962-3030) which parents can call to receive advice from an expert.

PBS Parent Advice Website
PBS has a section of their website dedicated to helping parents raise their children. Visitors can find information on preparing healthy meals for their children, fun games and crafts for kids, helping kids cope with the loss of a loved one, and other helpful parenting information.

United Way of West Alabama
The United Way works to fund organizations which assist people with the basic necessities of life. Their telephone helpline 2-1-1 can connect people with charitable organizations which can provide assistance (including financial assistance) in the areas of education, income, and health.

The University of Alabama Counseling Laboratory

Family Counseling Service
The Family Counseling Service, located on Paul Bryant Drive in downtown Tuscaloosa, offers individual and family counseling. With proof of income, clients can be eligible for a sliding scale reduced payment for services.
