Background & Philosophy
My name is Mandy Tucker, and I was born in Northport, Alabama, which I have called home my entire life. I've been married to my best friend and high school sweetheart, Cameron since November of 2016. My parents, John and Beth Ramey, both graduated from the University of Alabama, and actually met while on campus. My mother, who currently teaches Pre-K at Myrtlewood Elementary, has always been my inspiration for becoming a teacher. I have one brother who is the youth minister at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.
I chose this profession because I believe that teachers are a crucial component to the future of our nation, because educators are teaching the members of our future generation. One of my goals as a teacher includes learning how to better assist students in gaining knowledge and gaining a passion for learning. In my experiences, students tend to gain the most knowledge when the learning process is fun and engaging. In my classroom, students will participate in hands-on learning through whole group lessons, small group activities, and free choice centers.
Associate in Arts from Shelton State Community College
Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from the University of Alabama
When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my husband, reading novels, watching movies and playing with my cat, Belle and my dog, Anya. I also play the flute in a local community band called Black Warrior Winds. A few of my favorite things include Reese's cups, Diet Mountain Dew, anything related to fall, Alabama football, gel pens, notebooks, and coffee!
