TCSS Names New Administrators

    In its regular meeting on Thursday, May 9, the Tuscaloosa County Board of Education approved the superintendent’s recommendations to fill two administrative positions.

     

    Collins-Riverside Middle School

    Effective June 1, Mr. Steven Sims will serve as principal of Collins-Riverside Middle School. Mr. Sims has served as an assistant principal at Hillcrest High School since 2012. During his time at Hillcrest, Mr. Sims has also served as problem solving team chairperson, athletics director, safety plan coordinator, and member of the TCSS Administrative Academy, among many other duties. Mr. Sims holds a Master of Education degree in Instructional Leadership from the University of West Alabama. Mr. Sims also holds Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees from UWA.

    During the Board meeting, TCSS Superintendent Dr. Walter Davie said he is proud to recommend Mr. Sims for the position.

    “Mr. Sims is looking forward to taking Collins-Riverside Middle School to the next level,” Dr. Davie said.

     

    Hillcrest Middle School

    Effective July 1, Mr. Kyle Oden will become assistant principal of Hillcrest Middle School. Mr. Oden has been a fourth grade teacher at Englewood Elementary School since 2007, and has served as a fill-in administrator at Englewood as needed. He is an Alabama Teacher of the Year Nominee, and has been named a Nick’s Kids Teacher of Excellence. Mr. Oden holds a Master of Arts degree in Educational Leadership from The University of Alabama, as well as a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from UA.

    “Mr. Oden will make a great team member at Hillcrest Middle School,” Dr. Davie said in his recommendation to the Board.
