Board Selects Candidates to Fill Superintendent & CSFO Positions

    In the May 11 regular meeting of the Tuscaloosa County Board of Education, the Board voted to extend offers to candidates for the positions of Superintendent and Chief School Financial Officer. 

    The Board selected Dr. Keri Johnson for the position of Superintendent of the Tuscaloosa County School System. Dr. Johnson will come to TCSS from Alabaster City Schools, where she serves as Coordinator of Secondary Education and Exceptional Education. Dr. Johnson previously held positions within Shelby County Schools, and has served as an adjunct instructor for Samford University and the University of Montevallo.  

    Dr. Johnson will become Superintendent of the Tuscaloosa County School System on July 1.

    The Board also voted to extend an offer to Ms. Glendora Stephens for the position of Chief School Financial Officer. Ms. Stephens will come to TCSS from Birmingham City Schools, where she serves as Interim Assistant Chief School Financial Officer.

    Ms. Stephens will begin June 1. 

    The vacancies are created by the retirements of TCSS Superintendent Dr. Walter Davie and CSFO Mr. Danny Higdon. Mr. Higdon retired April 30. Dr. Davie will retire June 30.
