Board Extends Offers to Candidates for Superintendent & CSFO Positions
May 11, 2020
In the May 11 regular meeting of the Tuscaloosa County Board of Education, the Board voted to extend offers to candidates for the positions of Superintendent and Chief School Financial Officer. Both offers are contingent upon the Board reaching contract agreements with the selected candidates.
The Board voted to extend an offer to Dr. Keri Johnson for the position of Superintendent of the Tuscaloosa County School System. Dr. Johnson currently serves as Coordinator of Secondary Education and Exceptional Education for Alabaster City Schools. Dr. Johnson previously held positions within Shelby County Schools, and has served as an adjunct instructor for Samford University and the University of Montevallo.
The Board also voted to extend an offer to Ms. Glendora Stephens for the position of Chief School Financial Officer. Ms. Stephens currently serves as Interim Assistant Chief School Financial Officer for Birmingham City Schools.
The vacancies are created by the retirements of TCSS Superintendent Dr. Walter Davie and CSFO Mr. Danny Higdon. Mr. Higdon retired April 30. Dr. Davie continues to serve in the role of Superintendent.
Once the Board approves contract agreements for Dr. Johnson and Ms. Stephens, start dates for both individuals would then be announced.
