TCHS Student Named National Merit Semifinalist

  • September 10, 2020

Congratulations to Tuscaloosa County High School senior Vaneeza Rupani, who was announced this week as a Semifinalist by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors earn this prestigious distinction. Semifinalists are the highest-scoring entrants in their state on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

Once a student is named as a National Merit Semifinalist, they may apply to advance to the Finalist level. All National Merit Scholarship winners will be selected from this group of Finalists. Scholarship recipients will be announced in Spring 2021.

National Merit Scholarship Corporation is a not-for-profit organization that was established in 1955. Scholarships are underwritten by NMSC with its own funds and by business organizations and higher education institutions that share NMSC’s goals of honoring the nation’s scholastic champions and encouraging the pursuit of academic excellence.

    Congratulations Vaneeza!
