Board Members Begin New Terms in Office

  • The Tuscaloosa County School System welcomes new Board of Education member Mr. Jamie Lake, and returning Board Member Mr. Don Presley, as they begin new terms in office.

    Mr. Lake and Mr. Presley were both sworn into office on November 9.

    Mr. Lake is the District 2 Board Member. Schools within his district are Collins-Riverside Middle, Crestmont Elementary, Echols Middle, Faucett-Vestavia Elementary, Huntington Place Elementary, Matthews Elementary, Northport Elementary, Northside High, Northside Middle, Tuscaloosa County High, and Walker Elementary.

    “Being elected to serve the public is a high honor,” Mr. Lake said.

    “And serving in a role where I can help to better educate our children is one of the greatest honors of all. Our children are our future, they are our greatest investment. I look forward to doing everything I can to help make a brighter future for them. I appreciate the voters of District 2 for giving me the opportunity to do so.”

    Mr. Presley is the District 4 Board Member. Schools within his district are Buhl Elementary, Collins-Riverside Middle, Crestmont Elementary, Echols Middle, Flatwoods Elementary, Huntington Place Elementary, Matthews Elementary, Myrtlewood Elementary, Northport Elementary, Northside High, Northside Middle, Tuscaloosa County High, Sipsey Valley High, Sipsey Valley Middle, Walker Elementary, and Westwood Elementary.

    “I am excited and humbled being re-elected to serve a fourth term representing District 4 on the County Board of Education,” Mr. Presley said.

    “I plan to continue the past practice of visiting schools whenever possible and regularly attending events/activities at our schools.”

    Mr. Presley also said recruiting and retaining highly-qualified educators is important to him, as well as providing well-maintained learning environments for students and teachers.
