  • December 17, 2020

The Tuscaloosa County School System and Tuscaloosa County Board of Education is saddened by the loss of District 7 Board of Education Member Mr. Bill Copeland. Mr. Copeland passed away earlier this week.

At Thursday’s Board of Education called meeting, Board Member Mr. Don Presley expressed the Board’s condolences to the Copeland family and spoke about Mr. Copeland’s contributions to the Board and school system.

“If there was an issue he believed strongly in, Bill was going to stick with it and work on that issue, until hopefully things came out to a positive outcome, for the benefit of the school system and students that he served,” Mr. Presley said.

    "We will miss him."

Mr. Copeland was first elected to the Tuscaloosa County Board of Education in 2006, and then reelected in 2012 and 2018.

The Tuscaloosa County Board of Education is the appointing authority to fill the remainder of Mr. Copeland’s term. The Board will release information about the process to fill the seat in the coming days.
