TCSS to Implement A/B Schedule for On-Campus Students January 5 - 8, 2021

  • From the Office of the Superintendent

    December 18, 2020

To Our TCSS Students, Families, Faculty, and Staff,

For our first week of second semester, TCSS will operate on an A/B Schedule for On-Campus Learners. We have reached this decision based on the number of quarantines, isolations, and employee absences we experienced following Thanksgiving, and the need to give our families advance notice of this change. We appreciate the cooperation of our families, because we know the schedule change presents a challenge for many. Our purpose in beginning the semester on an A/B schedule is to minimize the impact of holiday COVID exposures on our schools, and to help us quickly resume and maintain our full-time on-campus schedule.

TCSS Remote Learners are not impacted by this schedule and should work under the direction of their Remote Learning Coach and teachers.

Schedule for the Week of January 4, 2021

    Monday, January 4:

TCSS Employees Return to Work. (TCSS employees will report to their work sites daily while we are on A/B schedule.)

    Tuesday and Wednesday, January 5-6:

    A Group – Attend School On-Campus

B Group – Remote Learning Days

    Thursday and Friday, January 7-8:

A Group – Remote Learning Days

    B Group – Attend School On-Campus

Students will be in the same groups that they were in for A/B Schedule during the week of December 14.

    Week of January 11:

January 7 Update - TCSS will return to our regular five-day on-campus schedule on Monday, January 11. See more information here.

We will notify TCSS families by Thursday, January 7 at Noon, regarding plans for the week of January 11. It is our goal to return to our regular five-day on-campus schedule at that time, but current conditions regarding COVID-19 may cause TCSS to operate on an A/B schedule for an additional week.

    Week of January 19:

TCSS will resume our regular full-time on-campus schedule beginning Tuesday, January 19. (Students and staff are out on Monday, January 18, for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.)

Students should not report to school on their scheduled Remote Learning Days. Teachers will provide information about assignments for these days. Access to an electronic device will not be required to complete assignments for Remote Learning Days. Please stay connected to the ways that you receive official information from your school for information about your Remote Learning Days.

Transportation will run as normal beginning January 5. Students should ride their normal bus route on their on-campus days.

School meals will also be provided as normal for students on their on-campus days. Students may also receive meals for their Remote Learning Days.

Extended Day programs will be available as they normally operate at your school.

If a student or TCSS employee becomes symptomatic or is determined to have a positive COVID-19 diagnosis over the Winter Break, please contact your school principal via email to notify them.

During the break, we encourage our entire TCSS community to stay vigilant about health-promoting habits. We wish you a safe and happy Christmas and holiday season!
