Construction Projects Moving Forward Across TCSS

  • Tuesday, April 27, 2011

At the April 26 Board of Education meeting, the Board approved the installation of turf for the football field at Tuscaloosa County High School. This project comes alongside several other district-wide improvements, recently approved by the Board.

    These projects include:

    Classroom addition at Vance Elementary

    Renovations at Myrtlewood Elementary

Cafeteria expansion and addition at Northside Middle

Cafeteria expansion and career technical education annex at Hillcrest High

Facility upgrades for Northside High baseball

    Activity building for Taylorville Primary

The projects at Vance, Myrtlewood, Northside Middle, Northside High, Hillcrest High, and Taylorville are being funded through a total of approximately $22 million in Alabama Public School and College Authority (APSCA) bond issue money. In order to be funded with this money, projects must be completed within the next two years.

During upcoming Board work sessions, the Board will review the district-wide capital plan. This plan involves academic, athletics, and extra-curricular facilities and projects.
