NIS School Nurse

I am Nikki Bishop and am so excited to be the school nurse here at Northport Intermediate School. I graduated from the University of Alabama Capstone College of Nursing School and have been a nurse for over 15 years. I have worked in many areas including Emergency medicine, Employee Health, Primary care/Family Medicine and most recently, school nursing. A few reminders:

- If your child is sick with fever, he or she must be fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication before returning to school.

- Please notify the school nurse if your student tests positive for COVID-19 or is in quarantine.

- Be on the lookout for any letters sent home regarding updating your student’s immunization status. The State of Alabama School Law requires all students entering public or private school to present an up-to-date Alabama Certificate of Immunization (COI), an Alabama Certificate of Religious Exemption, or an Alabama Certificate of Medical Exemption for specific vaccine-preventable disease. If you have any questions or need additional information concerning required vaccines or certificates, please call your physician or local county health department.
