    What is the purpose of National Honor Society? 

    The purpose of this organization is to create enthusiasm for scholarships, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character in the students of Sipsey Valley High School.     What are the eligibility requirements of  National Honor Society? 

    To be eligible for membership, the candidate must be a  junior or senior who is actively pursuing the Alabama High School Diploma with Academic Distinction. Candidates must have been in attendance at the school the equivalent of one semester. The national minimum standard for scholarships shall be a cumulative scholastic average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) in advanced or AP classes. All students who meet the requirements of membership after the candidates' sophomore year are eligible for induction. A membership invitation will be issued to those students who are eligible. 

    Membership Dues and Obligations 

    The membership dues are $30.00.

    Service hours are required at 20 hours for each member.


    Attendance to meetings is mandatory. If a member misses two meetings, the sponsor will evaluate the student's membership and the member may be placed on probation. Tardiness to meetings is unacceptable, without any viable reason. 


    Service Projects 

    Service Hours Form - This form must be completely filled out for you to get credit for the service hours that you have worked. Please be mindful that your sponsor can at anytime verify the service hours recorded. Remember that the service(s) done that is to be considered for volunteer hour(s) you must not get paid. Volunteer hours are just that, volunteer hours. If you have any questions or concerns, please ask me.
