November 16, 2021: COVID-19 Data Report (Daily)

  • The Tuscaloosa County School System is now publishing daily updates on our system’s COVID-19 data. The daily report reflects new cases reported to our school nurses on this date. Our school and system COVID-19 data comes from what is reported to us by parents/guardians when their student is diagnosed with COVID-19, or by a faculty/staff member when they are diagnosed with COVID-19. It is not data from the health department or doctor's offices.

TCSS also provides this same data to the Alabama Department of Public Health for Alabama’s K-12 COVID-19 School Dashboard, which is published on a weekly basis. Our system report breaks down the data into student positive cases and faculty/staff positive cases, and also breaks down the data by school.

Daily updates will be provided until further notice.

The data in today’s report was collected on November 16.

Data Chart - November 16, 2021 COVID-19 Report  (Chart is also shown as an image below on this page.)

In schools where there are fewer than five positives among students and/or faculty/staff, the actual number of positives is not included in the data chart. The chart will display a blank space in these instances. This is in an effort to maintain personal health data and privacy. The data is still reflected in the system-wide positives total.

The chart also includes percentage of student positives by school, as well as a system-wide percentage of student positives. The system-wide percentage of new cases in students for this day is 0.06 percent. TCSS has approximately 2,300 faculty/staff members. The one new faculty/staff case reported on this day equates to 0.04 percent of faculty/staff.

Parents and guardians will receive a letter from their student's school, if there is reported positive case of COVID-19 in one of the student's classes or on the student's bus. This letter does not mean your student has been identified as a close contact and must quarantine. If you receive one of these letters, please contact your healthcare provider or Alabama Department of Public Health for additional guidance.
