February 23 - March 1, 2022: COVID-19 Data Report (Weekly)

  • The Tuscaloosa County School System publishes daily and weekly updates on our system’s COVID-19 data. Our school and system COVID-19 data comes from what is reported to us by parents/guardians when their student is diagnosed with COVID-19, or by a faculty/staff member when they are diagnosed with COVID-19. It is not data from the health department or doctor's offices.

TCSS also provides this same data to the Alabama Department of Public Health for Alabama’s K-12 COVID-19 School Dashboard, which is published on a weekly basis. Our system report breaks down the data into student positive cases and faculty/staff positive cases, and also breaks down the data by school.

The data in this report was collected from February 23 - March 1, 2022.

In schools where there are fewer than five positives among students and/or faculty/staff, the actual number of positives is not included in the data chart. The chart will display a blank space in these instances. This is in an effort to maintain personal health data and privacy. The data is still reflected in the system-wide positives total.

The system-wide percentage of new cases in students for this period is 0.04 percent. TCSS has approximately 2,300 faculty/staff members. There were no reported new faculty/staff cases during this time.

Parents and guardians will receive a letter from their student's school, if there is reported positive case of COVID-19 in one of the student's classes or on the student's bus. This letter does not mean your student has been identified as a close contact and must quarantine. If you receive one of these letters, please contact your healthcare provider or Alabama Department of Public Health for additional guidance.
