Meal Benefits Information

  • Meal Benefits Applications for the 2023-2024 school year are now available. Please read the information below to know if you should fill out a Meal Benefits Application for your student.

Who should NOT complete a Meal Benefits Application?

For the 2023-2024 school year, all students attending TCSS schools considered "Title I Schools" are eligible to receive breakfast and lunch each school day, at no charge to families. This is made possible through the Community Eligibility Provision, which is a federal program that provides no-charge meals to students in areas that meet certain economic requirements. All students at these schools will receive meals at no charge, but this does not apply to faculty, staff, or visitors.

If your student attends one of the schools listed below, you should not complete a Meal Benefits Application for your student.

What if my student's school is not listed above?

If your student's school is not listed here, you must complete a Meal Benefits Application for your student(s) to qualify for free or reduced-price meals. Even if you don't think your student will qualify, we encourage all families to complete the application as soon as possible, because your student(s) may be eligible for free or reduced-price school meals. The reduced price for breakfast is $0.30, and the reduced price for lunch is $0.40. Only one application should be completed per household.

Students who do not qualify for free or reduced-price meals will be required to pay full price for meals in the 2023-2024 school year.

Schools will have paper Meal Benefits Applications at the start of the school year. However, the online application is the preferred method. If you would like a paper application, please request one from your school.

What if I completed the Meal Benefits Application last school year or earlier this summer? Do I need to do it again?

If you completed a Meal Benefits Application prior to July 5, 2023, you must complete the form again, to receive meal benefits for the upcoming school year. Applications completed prior to July 5 are not applicable for the 2023-2024 school year.

Please complete the Meal Benefits Application as soon as possible, to allow time for your application to be processed before the first day of school.

Please fill out one application per household, not a separate application for each student. The online application is the preferred method, but please request a paper application from your school if you would like one.

What happens after I complete the application?

Once you complete your online application for meal benefits, please allow four days for the application to be processed. Then, you may call your school and choose the option to speak to the Child Nutrition Manager, to get the results of your application. Letters with the results of your application will also be sent home after school starts.
