Head Varsity Coach - Taylor Cook
Taylor Cook is entering her eighth year of coaching, with this being her first year as a Varsity Head Coach. She coached at Hillcrest High School for 7 years as the JV Softball Coach. She is a graduate of Shelton State Community College and the University of Alabama. Coach Cook earned an Associates Degree at Shelton State and a Bachelors Degree in Secondary Math Education from the University of Alabama. She is excited to begin a career with the TCHS Softball Program. Go Wildcats!Assistant Varsity Coach - Jenna Ewing
Jenna Ewing, who was born and raised in Northport, Alabama, is beginning her second year as an assistant coach for the Tuscaloosa County High School Softball Team. She played varsity softball for 5 years at Tuscaloosa County High School before graduating in 2015. After graduation, she moved to Panama City Beach, Florida, where she continued her softball career at Gulf Coast State College. She graduated from GCSC with an Associates of Arts Degree and returned to Tuscaloosa to complete her undergraduate studies at the University of Alabama. Recently, Jenna graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelors Degree in Exercise and Sport Science with concentrations in Pre-Professional Studies and Fitness. Currently, she is applying to Physical Therapy school and hopes to earn her Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree in the coming years. She is excited to be back with the Wildcats for a second year and is looking forward to a successful season!! Go Wildcats!Pitching Coach - Blake Gray
Blake Gray is entering his first year with the TCHS Softball Team while having 6 years of coaching experience under his belt. Coach Gray just finished up his career as a manager under Patrick Murphy and the Alabama Softball Team where he served the Tide for 3 years. Coach Gray is finishing up his internship to complete his Bachelors Degree in Physical Education.JV Head Coach - Meg Julian
Meg Julian graduated high school in 2011 from Louise S. McGehee School in New Orleans, La, and attended The University of Alabama where she graduated in 2016, receiving a Bachelors Degree in Physical Education. After getting her job at TCHS she continued her education at Concordia University in Portland where she received a Masters in Curriculum & Instruction with a Minor in Methods & Curriculum. Coach Julian has coached all 4 years at TCHS, with this being her second year coaching softball.JV Assistant Coach - Wendy Herndon
Wendy Chapman Herndon is from Northport, Alabama. She attended Faucett-Vestavia Elementary, Collins-Riverside Middle School and graduated from Wilcox Academy in Camden, Alabama. After high school Coach Herndon went on to play softball for Shelton State and Ohio University. She then returned to Alabama and met and married her husband Jay. Her husband is a commercial cattle farmer and works at running their family cattle farm. They have two children. Their daughter Jaymie is a 2012 graduate of TCHS and is married to Jeremy Tisdale and works at Taylorville Primary. Jaymie and her husband had Coach Herndon's first grandchild on May 15th, 2019. They love spending time and spoiling Grayson "Gray" James Tisdale. Their son Caleb is a 2016 TCHS graduate and attended Shelton State on a full scholarship from the Nucor Technical Academy program. He finished with an Industrial Electrical Maintenance Technology degree and a welding degree in May 2019 and is employed with Nucor Steel of Tuscaloosa. Coach Herndon and her family live in the Taylorville community and are active members of Valley View Baptist Church. She enjoys spending time with her family, spending time at the beach, scrapbooking, and watching, talking and playing just about any sport. She is a huge Alabama and Dodgers fan and loves cheering them on. She is in her thirteenth year at County High. Before coming to TCHS, she taught and coached at American Christian Academy for ten years. Over her teaching and coaching career, she has coached softball, basketball, volleyball, and soccer. Coach Herndon loves being at Tuscaloosa County High and working with the students here. She hopes to teach and coach here until she retires. Go Wildcats!JV Assistant Coach - Cory Kemp
Cory Kemp is a Tuscaloosa native and graduated from Central High School in 1999. He completed his Associates Degree at Shelton State in 2011 and is currently a senior at the University of Alabama majoring in Exercise Sports Science. Coach Kemp was the Assistant Softball Coach at Sipsey Valley High School from 2015 to 2017, the Assistant Head Softball Coach at Holt High School from 2017 to 2019, and has coached with the Magic City Chaos Travel Ball Organization since 2016.
