Matthews Elementary Recognized for Efforts to Build a School Culture of Character

Matthews Elementary School has been named a 2024 Promising Practice School by Character.org, a nationwide advocate for the role character values play in building successful schools and communities.

Matthews was selected as a Promising Practice School for its “Super Leaders on the Rise” program.

Super Leaders on the Rise is a program that gives Matthews families a variety of ways to become part of their child's education and contribute to the overall growth of the school. Families have opportunities to be involved in mentoring and tutoring, and give input and participate in school activities. The program has helped Matthews build and sustain stronger family and community connections.

"We are extremely proud to recognize the schools and organizations that have developed and implemented a Promising Practice,” Dr. Arthur Schwartz, President of Character.org, said in announcing this year’s Promising Practice Schools.

“Each of these programs and initiatives have demonstrated significant impact and strongly align with the principles that help schools and organizations cultivate a culture of character.”

Less than 200 schools nationwide were selected as Promising Practice Schools this year.
