Tuesday, May 19 - Required Meeting for "Move On When Ready" Participation

TCSS Families,

Please see this important message for families of current 10th or 11th grade TCSS students with a 3.25 or higher grade point average.

Move On When Ready Act

The Move On When Ready Act is a new Alabama law that creates an additional pathway for eligible 11th and 12th grade students who are academically ready to fully transition from high school to college.

Under the Move On When Ready program, eligible students may enroll full time at an approved Alabama public college or university and earn college coursework that also counts toward high school graduation requirements. Students participating in this program are considered college students, not high school students, during their enrollment.

Key Points for Families:

• ✅ Eligibility: Students must be in 11th or 12th grade and meet academic and admissions requirements set by the college and the State of Alabama. One of the requirements is a 3.25 GPA or higher in current coursework.

• ✅ Cost: Tuition and instructional materials are covered by the state allocation. Parents are responsible for any cost above the state cap.

• ✅ High School Credit: College courses completed through the program may satisfy high school graduation requirements or elective credit.

• ✅ Enrollment Status: Students enrolled in Move On When Ready do not attend high school classes and do not participate in high school extracurricular activities during their enrollment.

• ✅ Counseling Required: Students and parents must participate in counseling and sign an informed consent form before enrolling.

This program is different from traditional dual enrollment. Move On When Ready is designed for students who are ready to make a full transition to the college environment while completing their high school diploma.

Information Meeting Invitation

To help families learn more about the Move On When Ready Act and determine whether this option may be a good fit for their student, we invite you to attend a parent information meeting. This meeting is for families of students currently in 10th or 11th grade who meet the GPA qualification of 3.25 or higher.

Parent/guardian attendance at the meeting is required for a student to be eligible for this program for the 2026-2027 school year.

Please pre-register for the meeting at this link.
