Update for Brookwood Elementary, Middle, High Families, Faculty, Staff

Additional Update, 10:56 am: Upon further investigation, we have discovered the social media post originated from a student in another county, who does not attend the Tuscaloosa County School System and is not connected to our district.

Brookwood Elementary, Middle, and High Students, Families, Faculty, and Staff,

We wanted to share an update to the message you received earlier this morning. This situation has been investigated, and we do not believe there is any active or credible threat to our schools, related to the message posted online. The student who we believe posted the message is not at school.

Privacy laws prevent us from discussing specifics of student discipline, but please know any student who makes comments regarding the safety of our students or school faces consequences under our student code of conduct.

Again, alerting law enforcement or a school administrator is so important whenever you think there may be a threat to school or student safety. Thank you to everyone who spoke up in this situation. This is one of the most important actions anyone can take to keep our schools safe.

Sincerely,

Keri C. Johnson, Ed.D.

Superintendent
