A strong school-family relationship is key to students achieving success in and out of the classroom, which is why we want to make information about current curricula and materials used in TCSS classrooms easily available. To obtain courses of study for every grade and subject, please visit the Alabama Learning Exchange (ALEX). For practice with the ACAP (Alabama Comprehensive Assessment Program), which is the new summative assessment that students in grades 2-8 will take beginning in Spring 2020, visit the ACAP website.
Alabama Math, Science, and Technology Initiative (AMSTI)
The Alabama Math, Science, and Technology Initiative is the Alabama Department of Education's initiative to improve math and science teaching statewide. Its mission is provide all students in grades K-12 with the knowledge and skills needed for success in the workforce and/or post-secondary studies (college and career ready). AMSTI specialists work through the Regional Support Team to partner with all of the Tuscaloosa County Schools in sharing new ideas and strategies, modeling lessons and labs, creating activities that engage and challenge students, and moving students toward the goal of graduating college and career ready.

Alabama Reading Initiative (ARI)
The Alabama Reading Initiative (ARI) is a statewide K-12 initiative committed to supporting the development of high-quality instruction that will provide all students with the literacy skills needed to meet or exceed grade-level standards. The goal of the ARI is to improve reading instruction significantly and ultimately achieve 100% literacy among public school students. The Tuscaloosa County Schools has expanded the ARI Reading Specialists to provide professional learning and collaboration for all schools, strengthening content literacy and comprehension in all disciplines.
