    Bio
I've spent the better part of my life here in Northport/Tuscaloosa, Alabama. As a teenager, I swore to myself that I would get out of this place; now, I don't figure you could pry Denny Chimes from my cold, dead hands. Before working as a high school teacher, I wrote for a nationally-recognized music website, shipped Sunbeam bread across the South, sold music at Tuscaloosa's finest (and only) independent music store, and even cleaned up local parks. It took long enough, but I finally found my real passion. While at the University of Alabama, I met my wife (Amber Cunningham Barkdoll) and somehow convinced her it was a good idea to marry me in the summer of 2010. When I'm not teaching or coaching, I enjoy listening to and arguing about music with my best friends, watching sports of all kinds, playing with my dogs, making big plans that I may or may not carry out, and, of course, reading and writing. I'm looking forward to another great year at TCHS.
