I am a 2003 graduate of Excel High School!  I attended Alabama Southern Community College from 2003 - 2004.  In 2004, I transferred to the University of Alabama (ROLL TIDE!!!), where I was in the Multiple Abilities Program (MAP) and received a degree in Early Childhood, Elementary and Special Education.  I graduated in May of 2007 and started teaching first grade at Taylorville Primary School.  I absolutely love my career choice and could not imagine doing anything else with my life!

I completed my master's degree in Early Childhood Education at The University of West Alabama in July 2010!

Hello!!  My name is Jana Henry.  I am originally from the small town of Excel, Alabama!  I have lived in Tuscaloosa for twelve years and I absolutely LOVE it here!  This is my seventh year at Taylorville Primary School!! I believe TPS is the BEST school in the whole world!  I look forward to a wonderful year in second grade!  We are going to have so much fun learning!

I am married to Richard Henry of Tuscaloosa!  We were married on July 10, 2010!  It was an amazing day and I am enjoying every minute of married life!  We have a beautiful daughter, Sally Caroline, who will be 2 years old on April 3rd. She is a joy to our family and has the sweetest personality.  We also have a chocolate lab named Del!  He is full of energy and a joy to be around, because he is always happy!

I have two great parents, who still live in Excel, Alabama.  They both were educators for over 30 years and have been great examples for me to follow in my profession!  They are very supportive in all I do and I thank them for everything!   I have an older brother, Justin, who is also a teacher.  He teaches high school history and is a baseball coach! I guess you could say education is running through our veins! :)

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, reading, and exercising.  Richard, Sally, and I are members of First Presbyterian Church of Tuscaloosa, where we help with the children's ministry.  My favorite colors are pink, green, and red!  My favorite places to go are the lake and beach!  My favorite team is the Crimson Tide...ROLL TIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
