Education I graduated in 1983 from Lowndes Academy, which is located in Lowndesboro, Alabama. I attended the University of Montevallo, and later transferred to Auburn University. I graduated from Auburn in 1987 with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education. I continued at Auburn and graduated in 1988 with a M. Ed. in Special Education-Learning Disabilities. I attended Jacksonville State University to add Special Education certification in Mental Retardation in 1996. I also have attended the University of Alabama taking classes in the area of Severe and Profound.
Experience
I began my teaching career in Chamber's County, Alabama teaching a 4th-7th Learning Disabilities class. After my husband graduated from Auburn, we moved to Beaumont, TX where I taught third grade for one year. I then took a teaching position at Sour Lake Elementary in Sour Lake, TX. I was the K-3rd Special Education Teacher. I remained at Sour Lake for three years. In 1993, our family moved back to Alabama, and I began teaching a K-5th Special Education class with Anniston City Schools. I also remained there three years. Our family then moved again, to the state of Louisiana. I taught third grade there for one semester, and then returned back to Alabama. In August of 2003, I became the art teacher at Taylorville Primary. In September of 2004, I transitioned to become a Special Education teacher at Taylorville Primary. I love teaching at TPS!
