I grew up in Maplesville, Alabama, located in beautiful Chilton County-home of the best peaches anywhere! I am an only child and grandchild--and I am very close to my family. My grandparents and I even share the exact same birthday! I moved to Tuscaloosa to attend the University of Alabama. Following college I attended graduate school at the University of West Alabama, where I received my Masters degree in Elementary Education. I am also Nationally Board Certified in Early Childhood Literacy. I am entering my 18th year of teaching with the Tuscaloosa County School System. I have taught grades K-2 and I am so excited to teach 3rd grade for the first time this year. In March 2007, I married my college sweetheart, Charlie Thomas-from Hoover. Now, our family happily calls the Tuscaloosa/Northport area our home. Our life revolves around our precious children. We are proud parents to Cash Michael (10) and Mary Karen (4.) We love teaching them new things and taking them to fun places. We are members of Northport Baptist Church where I teach in the preschool ministry department.
I love working with children and all of the special opportunities that my job offers. I love that each day is a new adventure with a chance to have fun learning! I also enjoy mentoring student teachers. I am a Clinical Master Teacher through the University of Alabama, and often work with interns specializing in various areas. Spending my days with young learners is truly a blessing for me. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, sewing, traveling, crafting, playing the piano and NCAA football. Roll Tide Roll!
