Welcome! From your date of hire to the filing for retirement, the Tuscaloosa County School System Human Resources Department will help you throughout your career with our school system. We have approximately 2300 full-time employees who are dedicated to serving the needs of over 18,000 students. Please note: If you need assistance from our payroll department, please go to the Accounting, Payroll, and Finance Department section of the tcss.net website. This includes employment verifications for loan purposes and W-2 forms. If you need an experience verification for another school system or for student loan forgiveness, please email your information to Meredith Fuller at mfuller@tcss.net.
If you have other questions or need other assistance, please go to the "Helpful Contacts and Assistance" section of this page (left hand side). There is a guide that will help you determine the direct contact in human resources, payroll, and/or technology who can best assist you.
Applicants for the vacancies listed will be selected on the basis of qualifications, merit, and professional ability. It is the policy of the Board that no person in the school system shall, on the basis of race, color, creed, religion, sex, age, national origin or disability be denied employment, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination in any program or activity.
All positions will be remunerated according to the Tuscaloosa County School System Salary Schedule. The Salary Schedule may be accessed online. All job descriptions will be in accordance with the Tuscaloosa County Organizational Charts and Job Description manual.

Teach-In-Alabama can be accessed from our website, our teacher recruitment website, and can now be accessed directly — educators searching for jobs should visit this webpage and district admin portal is accessible here. Please update any links to the portal you may have on your district website.
If you are interested in employment as a teacher, but do not currently hold a valid Alabama Professional Educator Certification, there are alternate pathways to becoming a certified teacher. In particular, individuals with a bachelor's degree earned from an accredited institution with at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA with strong math, science, or foreign language backgrounds are encouraged to apply for open positions in those teaching areas. Other FAQ's related to how to become a teacher can be found on the Alabama State Department of Education's website HERE.
