Northport Elementary is located in rural Tuscaloosa County, approximately seven miles north of downtown Northport, Alabama. Our school was built in 2008 to relieve overcrowding at Huntington Place Elementary. NES serves students in K-2 as well as two special education Pre-K classes. The school’s population has grown each year and it currently enrolls over 575 students, 48 certified faculty and 10 support staff. In 2011, we were awarded our first state accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools on Accreditation and School Improvement.
As part of the Tuscaloosa County School System, our mission is to educate and empower all students to be college and career ready graduates who are prepared to make a positive contribution to our global society. At NES, we see the potential in every child that walks through our doors! From the hearing impaired pre-schooler to the bilingual second grader, we know that every child can learn. As a team, we strive to provide the avenues necessary for a lifetime of learning success. We believe:
N- Needs of individuals, no matter how varied, should be respected, included and valued.
E- Education is a shared responsibility requiring collaboration among all involved.
S- Safe, well-equipped, student-centered schools like NES scaffold and support student success.
