Amber Hartley attended Brookwood High School where she participated in band and learned to play the Flute. After graduating high school in 2004, Mrs. Hartley received a full music scholarship to attend the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
During her time at Alabama, she served as assistant principal flutist in the Wind Ensemble, marched in the Million Dollar Band, and participated in many other small ensembles. She also served as State Secretary for the Alabama Chapter of Collegiate Music Educators' Association. In 2007, she was the winner of the Undergraduate Conducting Competition where she served as the guest conductor of the Tuscaloosa Winds. She graduated in 2008 with her Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education (p-12).
Mrs. Hartley has 11 years of experience in teaching certified Music (pk-12). This experience includes teaching elementary music, middle school band/choir, and high school general music, and high school band/choir. Her band/choir ensembles have consistently been recognized for superior ratings at the state and national level. In June 2012, she received her level I Orff-Schulwerk certification. Her professional affiliations include Alabama Music Educators Association, Alabama Bandmasters Association, American Orff-Schulwerk Association, and NAFME.
Mrs. Hartley currently teaches General Music to all of the students at Brookwood Elementary. She also offers one after school learning opportunity. The Brookwood Elementary Orff Ensemble meets once weekly after school and is comprised of the the most outstanding young musicians in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. The Orff Ensemble has performed at local parades, retirement homes, shopping centers, and University of Alabama sporting events. In 2019, the Brookwood Orff Ensemble was selected to perform at the Alabama State Capitol in Montomery in celebration of the Alabama Bi-Cenntenial.
