Hello, everyone, my name is David Lammon, and I am the school counselor at Big Sandy Elementary! I am so happy to be here, and I look forward to serving the students, parents, and faculty in a first class way. One of the major goals in my life is to make a positive impact on everyone I meet. School counseling at Big Sandy will be one of the main platforms I use to accomplish this goal.
In 2013, I graduated from the University of Alabama with a bachelor's degree in secondary English education. I then taught reading graduation exam preparation and served as a special education aide in the Tuscaloosa City Schools. While working in this capacity, I realized that I enjoyed helping students plan for their future and establish personal and academic goals. This lead me to go back to the University of Alabama and earn a master's degree in school counseling. In my final semester as a school counseling student, I served as an intern at Big Sandy. I quickly realized that Big Sandy is a special place, and I am excited and grateful to return as an employee.
When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time outdoors. I grew up in Coker, Alabama, where I learned how to fish in a neighborhood pond. I still fish there and at other places around Tuscaloosa and Fayette County. Biking is another hobby of mine. The trails at Sokol Park and Lake Lurleen are some of my favorite places to ride. I also have a love for sports. I played baseball and football when I was younger, and I still enjoy throwing the ball around with friends. During the fall, my Saturdays are dedicated to Alabama Football.
Once again, I would like to state how happy I am to be the counselor at Big Sandy. I encourage any member of the Big Sandy community to contact me at 205-342-2840 for assistance with any personal, social, or academic needs.
