My name is Matthew Andrews, and I love being a second grade teacher here at Westwood Elementary! I am starting my fifth full year of teaching (4.5 overall) and I would like for you to know a little bit about myself! I graduated from The University of Alabama in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education (Roll Tide!). I have been working at Westwood in second grade since January 2016. I am originally from Sylacauga, Alabama. The Lord has blessed me with a wonderful family, friends, and school to work in! I have loved becoming a part of the Westwood Community and seeing children leave my classroom and flourish. 

My hobbies include spending time with friends and family, running, playing video games, and reading books and watching documentaries about history, especially the American Civil War! I love Star Wars, especially the original trilogy. My favorite Star Wars character is Darth Vader. 

Please know that I take each childs' education very seriously and I want nothing but the best for each child. I will always be for the child and his/her best interest. As a result, I want to have open, honest, and professional communication with all of my students' parents. I'm looking forward to a great year and can't wait to get to know your kiddos!
