Welcome! My name is Dannielle Blanks and I am excited to serve as the new school counselor at Davis-Emerson Middle School. My primary role as a school counselor is to help ALL students in the areas of academic achievement, career and social/emotional development. This is a collaborative effort between teachers and parents on early identification and intervention of children's academic and social/emotional needs. I focus on helping students balance family, friends, and school during individual, small group, and whole group lessons.
I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Alabama at Birmingham where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education in 2003. In 2006, I received my Master of Science degree in School Counseling from Alabama State University. I am currently enrolled at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and will receive a certification in Marriage, Family, and Couples Counseling.
I started my career in education in 2003. I taught kindergarten for five years and I taught third grade boys for six years. I was a school counselor for four years.
