Amber Sellers Clayton, RN Health Science Instructor
Hi! My name is Amber Clayton and I am one of the Health Science Instructors at the Brookwood Career Tech Annex. I have two daughters, Anna-Kolsyn (4) and McClain (2), who inspire me daily.
I am 2007 graduate of Brookwood High School (Go Panthers!) and am so excited to be back! While I was a student at Brookwood, my love for nursing and the healthcare field was discovered and born. I was able to take some of the same classes that I am now teaching! Through the Health Science program and being a member of HOSA I was able to experience and learn so much about a career that I am extremely passionate about.
After graduating I attended The University of Alabama and was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha. I then transferred to Shelton State Community College and obtained my Practical Nursing degree in 2010. After working for four years I returned to Shelton and obtained my Associates Degree of Nursing in 2015.
My nursing background includes long term care, rehabilitation, clinic settings, staff development and trauma surgical intensive care. My passion is in trauma and intensive care. I was able to not only gain valuable knowledge and experience as a nurse, but also as a person through my experiences as a charge nurse on the unit.
I am extremely thankful for the opportunity to be teaching at the BCTA and look forward to impacting my students in the same ways that I was impacted while at Brookwood!
