My name is LaMonica Hendrix and I am the Holt High School Social Worker. A little bit about me: I earned my Bachelor's and Master's degree in Social Work from The University of Alabama. Over the years, I have gained experience working with adolescents and young adults dealing with a variety of health and mental health concerns, including: chronic mental illness, teenage pregnancy, physical, mental and sexual abuse, and various behavior disorders. It is part of my nature to care for others; helping make their lives better and happier. Mental health is also a strong focus of mine as it continues to evolve throughout our district with our students and their families. If we can all find a way to connect within our community and with others, I feel we can live a healthier life.
I work with students on different levels based on their individual needs. I specialize in providing an array of services to students and their families to address and eliminate barriers that affect student's academic success in school. I serve as the link between the home, school and community by providing direct and indirect services to support students' academic and social success. I also collaborate with community agencies and families in building healthy connections to resources available within Tuscaloosa County and beyond as needed.
My goal is to make sure students and their families have access to resources that will benefit them in school and in society. I continue to work hard to forge excellent working relationships and collaborate with other staff and community agencies to assist our students in meeting their treatment, academic and life goals. I strongly believe that with my educational and professional experiences, as well as my motivation, enthusiasm, empathy and compassion for others, I will continue to be a valuable and productive member of the HHS family.
I am here as a resource to student's and their families within our community, so please contact me with any questions or concerns.
