    Greetings Mini Patriots!        

    Welcome Back! School starts on Thursday, August 20th for all students. Taylorville Primary’s doors will open at 7:20 a.m., and dismissal will commence at 2:30 p.m. This school year will be unique and challenging for all of us. Some students will be traditional on-campus learners and some will be remote learners. Regardless of their setting, our faculty and staff will remain committed to providing our students a rewarding educational experience. Thanks for supporting TPS as we continue on this unprecedented journey.

    Welcome Back Letters (All Students) and the Opening of School Plan (On-Campus Learners) were mailed last week. Each letter includes an introduction from your child’s teacher and information regarding a Virtual Classroom Tour/Meet the Teacher Video. If you fail to receive a letter by Tuesday, August 18th, please contact the school to ensure that your child is on a roster.

    The District’s Reopening of Schools Plan indicates that Open House is for new students, pre-k students, and kindergarten students only. Our Kindergarten Open House will be staggered. The Kindergarten Open House will be held on August 17th -18th, 2020. Welcome Back Letters for kindergarten students will provide details such as times for Open House. You should receive a phone call from your child’s kindergarten teacher as well.

    Welcome Back Letters for remote learners will include log-in information for Schoology and the teacher’s office hours.  The Central Office will post a video on the district’s website soon that will show parents and students how to log-in. We anticipate receiving devices from the Central Office the week of August 17th -21st,  2020. If you requested a device before the deadline, you will be contacted by your child’s teacher as soon as they are delivered.

    School Supplies Drop Off Day is Monday, August 17th.  Scheduled times are 11:00 a.m. -12:30 p.m. for First Grade and 1:00 p.m. -2:30 p.m. for Second Grade. You will pull up to the car rider area and a teacher will come out to pick up the supplies. It will be great if you are able to label your bags and display your child’s name in the windshield area of your vehicle. Parents should remain in their vehicles. You may contact your child’s teacher if these times are inconvenient for you. The teacher will work with you to schedule a different time. Car rider tags will be provided on this day.

    Our “Back to School” section is located under the “For Families and Students” tab at the top of our school’s website(www.tcss.net/Domain/37). You are encouraged to read our Opening of School Plan and other pertinent information that’s located in this section. We have developed extra procedures to keep everyone safe and healthy, ranging from keeping students 6 feet apart as much as we can to disinfecting classrooms daily.
