2019/2020 Required Summer Reading
All students are required to read one book over the summer. English teachers will give tests/projects during the first week of school. Click on the link below to see what your student's grade level is reading.
SVMS SGA - Charitable and Compassionate
Our Student Government Association sponsored a shoe drive for the Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter. They collected 158 pairs of shoes, and then the SGA Officers delivered them. SVMS students are always quick to assist the community in any way possible.

Congratulations to Mr. Borden
Kalon Borden wrote a successful grant proposal for Thinkpads and iPads for his seventh grade English class. We are very proud of his accomplishment, and we know that our seventh grade students will gain so much from the use of this new technology.

Recipes from the Valley
The time has come, and the Sipsey Valley Middle School cookbooks titled Recipes from the Valley have arrived! This has been a labor of love weeks in the making because our community's recipes are finally compiled and ready for use. We have collected over 100 recipes from students, teachers, parents, and other community residents (New Hope Baptist and First Cumberland Presbyterian to name a few). Contact Mrs. Lowry if you are interested in purchasing.

Online Registrion (InfoSnap) - Returning Students
The Tuscaloosa County School System is excited to announce an online student registration/data validation system for the upcoming school year, powered by InfoSnap. The system is a secure and green process, which allows the district to verify all student demographic, emergency and medical information for your child prior to the start of the new school year. The system will also allow you to electronically sign the annual permission forms for school district policies. In short, this online process replaces all the hard copy student registration and permission forms that your child brings home on the first day of school.
It is now time to fill out the online form. Each returning student (even sixth graders who will attend Sipsey Valley for the first time in 2016/2017, but attended a Tuscaloosa County school last year) should have received a letter with instructions on how to access the system. The letter contains a link/instructions and a secure “snapcode” that links directly to your student’s information. You will create an account, that you will use each year for this process, and submit a form for each student in your family. To make the process easier for families with multiple students, you will have the option to copy all generic family information to all other students in your family. We would appreciate all families to take action and complete these forms as soon as possible. Your student's registration will not be complete until the forms have been submitted. If you did not receive your letter with your "snapcode," please contact the school office for assistance. Also, if you not have access to the Internet, contact the school office and you can make an appointment to use a school computer to complete the process. If you have any further questions, please contact the school office.ENGLISH
Students who are new to the Tuscaloosa County School system need to read the information below in the District Announcement section and follow the link for new student registration.
