New Partnership is Game Changer
Sipsey Valley Middle School is delighted to welcome Coca-Cola United Tuscaloosa as a new Adopt-A-School partner. The team at Coca-Cola has been searching for a school community in which they can use their talents to help support educational programs in the Tuscaloosa area. Kevin Horton, Sales Center Manager at Coca-Cola United Tuscaloosa, said that “Sipsey Valley Middle School is the ideal school for this partnership. Our team members are very much looking forward to this school year.”
The Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama website provides detailed information about the Adopt-A-School program which began in 1985. According to the website, “The purpose of the program is to utilize the vast amounts of human resources and talents of the business community to strengthen, enhance, and enrich the quality of education in our 57 public schools of the Tuscaloosa City and Tuscaloosa County School systems.” Coca-Cola has already jumped into action in many ways as their new role as an Adopter. For example, on September 5th, Mr. Horton brought an unexpected door prize to the afternoon faculty meeting – a football signed by Nick Saban. Mrs. Parketta Gardner, SVMS Counselor, was thrilled when she heard her name called by the Principal of SVMS, Mr. Frank Kelly. Mrs. Gardner is a huge fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide, so fate chose an appropriate winner. This kind gesture by Coca-Cola was a true encouragement for teachers because it showed how much they are appreciated. Sipsey Valley Middle School and Coca-Cola United Tuscaloosa are looking forward to an exciting partnership.
