Closing the Gaps in Achievement & Opportunity

January 3, 2019 - The Tuscaloosa County School System was proud to welcome Dr. Tyrone Howard, UCLA Professor of Education, to help kick off the 2019 Spring semester with a professional development workshop. Dr. Howard is a nationally-renowned scholar in the area of educational equity. He challenges educators to look differently at issues such as race, trauma, culture, and implicit bias, and to take actions to create an equitable educational experience for all students. This was a joint session with the Tuscaloosa City Schools, allowing educators in both school systems to come together and spend time focused on these difficult, important conversations. TCSS appreciates Church of the Highlands in Tuscaloosa for providing their facility for this event.
