Charging Blocks and Cords (Updated 9/9/24)

• At the beginning of the year, each student was provided their assigned iPad, along with an Apple-certified charging cord and charging block. According to the TCSS Connect Student and Family Guide, it is the responsibility of the student and family to always keep up with the iPad and its accessories.
• Students are responsible for ensuring that the iPad is charged and ready for educational use at the beginning of every school day.
• The charging block and cord is to be used with the iPad, as long as the iPad is assigned to the student. This includes promotion to the next grade, even promotion to a new school. As long as a student has a particular iPad assigned to them, they should use the charging block and cord that came with it.
• As of this school year, there will no longer be a fine for each time a charging block or cord is lost. If a student does not know where their charging block or cord is, families are responsible for replacing it with an Apple-certified charger either by purchasing a new one from a reputable retailer or purchasing one from their school, with a portion of the proceeds directly benefiting the school.
• If a student withdraws from their school, students and families are required to return the iPad, case, and an Apple-certified charger (block and cord). If an Apple-certified block and cord are not returned, the student will be assessed a fine to cover the replacement cost of these items.

Mosyle ScreenGuide

• This year we are happy to announce the digital tool of Mosyle ScreenGuide. 
• This is a platform that allows families to have better supervision of student’s iPads during non-school hours.

Neptune Navigate

• For the 2024-2025 School Year, TCSS has purchased Neptune Navigate to help students learn about Digital Citizenship. 
• Family resources are also available to continue these conversations with your student.

iPad Protection Coverage and Fine updates

• iPad Protection Coverage is a one-time $50 fee that covers the first break of a students’ iPad or case. 
• iPad Protection Coverage does not cover replacement blocks and/or cords.
• Families have until the 2nd Friday in October to pay this fee or 4 weeks from the date of enrollment – whichever is later.

Lost Items & Return Window 

• Lost or damaged items should be reported immediately.
• Return Window: Students may return lost items within the returns window in place of paying the fine. The Return window starts at the date when the fine is issued. 
• For the iPad itself, students and families have until the first Friday in May of the academic school year when the fine was assessed.

Each month, TCSS Students will engage with a different area of what it means to be a Digital Citizen. We are using a program called Neptune Navigate to assist us with instruction in this subject.
